Dyson V15 Detect Review — The Cordless Vacuum to Beat

90Home Appliances

The V15 Detect's headline feature is a laser embedded in the cleaner head that lights up microscopic dust on hard floors, which sounds like a gimmick until you actually use it in a room you thought was clean. Paired with a piezo sensor that counts particles and sorts them by size on the LCD screen, it turns cleaning from a guessing game into something you can actually verify — genuinely useful for anyone with allergies or pets.

Suction power is class-leading, and the cleaner head automatically adjusts between carpet and hard floor without you having to switch settings. The included attachment set — mini motorized tool for upholstery and pet hair, crevice tool, combination tool — covers most real cleaning tasks without needing to buy separate accessories, which isn't always true of cheaper cordless vacuums.

Run time is the main limiting factor: depending on suction mode, you get anywhere from about 15 minutes on Boost to over 60 minutes on Eco, which is plenty for a normal apartment but means larger homes may need a mid-clean recharge or a strategy about which rooms to tackle first. The bin is also on the small side for how much suction power this thing has, so it needs emptying more often than you'd expect.

It's expensive relative to corded vacuums or cheaper cordless options, but the build quality, suction consistency and genuinely useful dust-detection features make it easy to recommend if you can stretch to the price — this is a vacuum you buy once and don't think about upgrading for years.
